Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has revealed the behind-the-scenes story of his negotiations. With the club before he was given the chance to take charge.

However, the board led by the INEOS group has given ‘ETH’ a chance and is reportedly in talks over a new contract. With the Dutchman now certain to remain at the Red Devils.

Ten Hag recently had the opportunity to open up to NOS. A local media outlet, who asked about the stories from the past few weeks. Including the behind-the-scenes stories that have taken place.

“INEOS are new to football so it’s normal for them to take their time and reflect on what happened in the (last) season.” Ten Hag said.

“It’s no secret that they have been talking to a number of potential candidates for the Manchester United job, which is allowed in England.

“In fact, here (in the Netherlands) it is not allowed to do that. But in England they have different rules.”

The ‘ETH’ has admitted that the Red Devils have had discussions with Thomas Tuchel as reported. But now he will continue his duties and is negotiating a new contract with the club.

“Manchester United told me they spoke to (Thomas) Tuchel but in the end they concluded they had the best manager in their hands. 

“United and I are still working on an agreement for a new contract. It’s not easy. We have to continue to negotiate on this.”
