Former Barcelona youth product Hugo Alba has been unveiled as the new signing of Serbian club OFK Belgrade.

Former Barcelona captain Hugo Alba has decided to leave the club to join OFK Belgrade after failing to impress with the Blaugrana.

Alba was a key part of Barcelona’s treble-winning side last season under Juliano Belletti. Before the 19-year-old forward decided to leave the club to join Serbian side OFK Belgrade this summer after scoring 57 goals in 166 appearances.

The 19-year-old forward also heaped praise on Belletti. Who was promoted to the Barca Athletic job this summer. Saying: ‘He’s the best coach I’ve ever had, the way he operates in the dressing room, his leadership, his discipline. I think all my team-mates agree.’

Alba also sees several former team-mates as having the potential to break into the first team in the future, particularly Oscar Gista, saying: ‘He’s one of the guys who can break through. He’s two years younger than me, but I think he’ll be important because he’s a player with a lot of potential. ‘

The 19-year-old forward also heaped praise on Marc Bernal, who broke into the first-team last season. ‘I always thought he was extraordinary. He’s a number six who wins the ball, passes it and does everything, but people don’t really talk about him.’
